Pastoral Care
Jesus tells us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Pastoral care is the way we make that love specific and tangible: sharing joys and sorrows, supporting one another in times of stress and need, offering mutual forgiveness and reconciliation. Life’s transitions bring us joy and sorrow; the ministries of pastoral care embody God’s love in accepting and adjusting to changes in circumstances.
Pastoral care happens through worship, where the proclamation of the Word in sermon and song is God’s gift that bears witness to the resurrection and leads us to recognize the Good News for each moment of our lives. Worship is held on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. and on special occasions throughout the year.
Pastoral care happens through prayer: individual and together, silent, spoken and sung. Our church is very active in thanking God, praying for people, and acknowledging God’s presence and power. You can request prayer by calling the church office at 209-532-2441, Tuesday-Friday.
Pastoral care happens through people, whether they are pastors, elders, deacons, Bible study leaders, or friends within the congregation. Our pastors are the Rev. Janet Russell and the Rev. Lee Warford, and our deacons are headed by Judy Nason. You can contact the pastors, or get in touch with the deacons, by calling the church office.
